Posting this week's round up a little late because it was my birthday this week so I was busy celebrating.
I did not watch any movies this week but I watched a lot of TV.
TV
Bad Sisters
I loved the first season of Bad Sisters and really enjoyed the second season as well. I think Sharon Horgan and team do an excellent job with the dialogue between the sisters and always give us some unexpected twists and turns. And what an incredible villain this season. High recommend this one to my fellow dark comedy lovers.
Dune: Prophecy
I finished the final episode this week and damn... This show really demonstrates what television can be. From the writing to the sets & costumes to the casting & actors, every aspect of this product is so flawlessly executed. This show is so engaging because you really care about Valya and Desmond, even though you know they're both morally questionable by our standards. But they each have their own moral code and they are ruthless about following it, which makes for a fascinating narrative. I'm rooting for them, even though I know that Valya or Desmond achieving thier goals means that tons of people will die. I still want them to succeed. Good TV makes you root for a character to do the right thing. Excellent TV makes you root for the villain to do the evil thing.
Black Sails
I'm in the final season and the Battle for Nassau is starting to play out. I'm not obsessed with the direction the story is going, but I'll reserve judgement until I get to the final episode.
Southern Charm
Easy, breezy, stupid drama. But I'll still tune in.
Below Deck Sailing Yacht
Another Bravo classic. Captain Glenn has been really cracking me up lately. And the deck crew doing a drag show was truly incredible.
Books
Intermezzo by Sally Rooney
Still chugging away at this one. Rooney is such a master of capturing the smallest quirks of a character.
Music
Always, Everytime by The Wrecks
Just really enjoyed this song this week. It's fun. It's catchy. The lyrics are smart.
Misunderstanding by This is the Kit
Great song for when you're in a sad mood and not really sure why.
